A man has fallen overboard on a luxury cruise ship currently traveling along the seas south of Hawaii.
The man, identified as an Australian passenger, fell off the ship as it traveled on the Pacific Ocean on Tuesday.
A search party that includes US Coast Guard sea and air teams is currently carrying out a search and rescue mission to find the man.
As soon as it was discovered that a passenger was overboard, the ship’s crew deployed six life rings in a search mission that lasted up to two hours.
The cruise, called Quantum of the Seas and run by the Royal Caribbean International, immediately informed the coastguard.
The ship’s Hercules flight crew was immediately deployed to search the area south of the Hawaiian town of Kailua-Kona.
The search went on for six hours before the crew flew to Honolulu to refuel. Coastguards have said they would resume the search for the missing passenger on Thursday morning.
Quantum of the Seas entertains passengers with a number of fun travel and tourism activities and entertainment. The luxury cruise ship was at sea for 15 days and was set to dock in Honolulu on Friday.
